So I just failed a class I really didn’t expect to fail. Second year introduction to electric circuits. I went through 3 stages of phone screening - 1 HR, 2 deeply technical (like 1-2 hours each of technical questions and hypotheticals). The interview questions are more directly related to what your potential job would be; e.g. if you're doing propulsion, they're going to ask you about specific aspects of rocket engine design and theory.I once asked my professor for clarification on something he asked us to do on a lab report once and he said "if you were at the first lab class you'd know". 1: I was at that class; 2: he wasn't my lab teacher, he was the recent; 3: my lab teacher had no idea on what to do for the lab.Absolutely, 100% go and be prepared. See who is attending and who you would be interested in working with. Then, visit those companies’ booths, ask questions, give them your resume, and ask about their co-ops they have available. Dress smart and have hard copies of your resume ready. I promise it’s worth it.Most importantly, don’t lose hope. Maybe engineering isn’t what your imagined or maybe it is and you just haven’t seen all it has to offer yet. Whether you choose to stay at engineering or leave, if you keep your desire to “drive the future forwards”, you will eventually find your niche. 2. Overall good post but not 100% exactly true. A lot of the big oil and gas companies start interviewing in January and February. Personally, I applied in October or November for some companies and received an interview invite for BP's I&E Safety Process summer internship in January.
